Follows a team of climbers, under close monitoring by scientists, during an expedition to the summit of Everest and back again. Volcano above the clouds: A geologist explores Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Deadly ascent: A NOVA investigation of deaths at high altitudes, looking at mountain rescues, emergency medical evacuations, and science experiments performed on Mt. McKinley in Alaska's Denali National Park. Descent into the ice: A team of glacionauts goes deep inside the glaciers surrounding western Europe's Mont Blanc, to study their inner workings and assess the risk of deadly mudslides. Mountain of ice: Follows a group of scientists and adventurers who attempt to scale Vinson Massif, Antarctica's highest peak, comparing their experiences to those of explorers Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen in 1911.
